TRIP TO BOGOTA - COLUMBIA - JANUARY 2022

By Helena & John | Trip to Bogota, Colombia

The whole trip was full of wonders, literally. Exceptional birding and biodiversity. Beautiful country and very nice people. The best pineapples and fresh juices ever. QR code app on the phone is a must for checking in to places, getting maps of an area... We felt like dinosaurs from Canada, but now we are in the 21st century :)

Winter weather cooperated, resulting into all flights and flight connections being smooth. It was pretty quiet in Dallas on January 31. Arrived at Bogota shortly after midnight on Jan 1, welcomed by New Year's fireworks all over the city :) Luckily some taxi drivers were working on January 1, so we were able to get to our hotel :)

Overnight in Vancouver on our way down was fine, except for the early morning shuttle never showed up, so the hotel had to call a taxi instead, getting us to the airport by half an hour later. Not sure what happened with the shuttle, but everything else with the hotel worked out very well.

Thank you for all the instructions with regard to immigration website for Colombia! That was very helpful.

On the way back from Bogota, we were at the airport 4 hours before the flight. It took 3 hours to get through check-in, security and US customs. Glad we gave ourselves a lot of time. As we learned, there is no rush in Colombia, everybody seems to be going with the flow and relaxed.

You made it so easy for us to get going again after COVID no travel years. Lots of wonderful memories, would definitely go to Colombia again (once we learn some Spanish) :)
